They would have to dodge its swing.<br />

Most of the twelve companions<br />
Used to laugh and call him names;<br />
They never thought poor Bilbo<br />
Burgled any worth of fame.<br />

Then one foggy Solstice Eve,<br />
Gandalf came to say:<br />
"Bilbo with your feet so light,<br />
Won't you steal from Smaug tonight?"<br />
Then how the company loved him<br />
As they shouted out with glee,<br />

The word had come out on the news of the War<br />
The shadow of Sauron had awaken once more<br />
The council of Elrond ignored all other men<br />
And called on a Hobbit to do it again.<br />

Twas the night before Solstice, with the Lone-Lands below<br />
When Strider went off, with the hobbits in tow<br />
He spied the black Nahzgul, so fiercely they fought<br />
With shadow in wound Frodo knew he was caught.<br />

Rivendell Oh Rivendell<br />
Far across the land<br />
Hope for peace on Middle-Earth<br />
And good will from man<br />

The Nahzgul had Frodo dead in his sight<br />
Frodo reached for the Ring and slipped it on tight<br />
Why he didn't turn, well, we'll never know<br />
Or was it the Elves from the valley below...<br />

Rivendell Oh Rivendell<br />

Hope for peace on Middle-Earth<br />

The Nahzgul made Strider fly to the ford<br />
And forced him to stray from Frodo once more<br />
Frodo was certain that this was the end<br />
When Lord Elronds chant brought the Nahzgul their end...<br />

Lord Elrond then offered a council with toast<br />
And The Fellowship was formed, with a quest from the host<br />
And then with a gallop they were all on their way<br />
Each hoping to return on some other day.<br />

Gammer got run over by a Ringwraith<br />

She'd been drinkin' too much mull wine.<br />
And we'd begged her not to go.<br />
But she'd forgot her pouch of pipe-weed,<br />
and she staggered out the door into the snow.<br />

When we found her Yulemath mornin,'<br />
at the scene of the attack.<br />
There were hoof prints on her forehead,<br />
And incriminatin' bootprints on her back.<br />

Gammer got run over by a Ringwraith,<br />

Now were all so proud of Gaffer.<br />
He's been takin' this so swell.<br />

All the family's dressed in black.<br />
And we just can't help but wonder:<br />
Should we open up her gifts or send them back?<br />

They should never give such minions,<br />
to a man who forges rings and tricks the elves.<br />
