Biography

Having grown up listening to her grandfather's fanciful tales of dragons and halflings, Alditha aspired to one day leave the confines of her family's home in Dale and to seek out the truths behind the stories. Shortly after her sister Aldwyn married, she decided to fulfill her lifelong dream and took up with a group of Dwarves headed to the other side of the Misty Mountains. She traveled with them until they reached the town of Bree, where she settled for a time. She was not there long before she caught word of an elf living in the Shire who possessed a remarkable collection of books and artifacts. Her curiosity piqued, she traveled to Ewefields and found herself at Randirim Hall, home of the elf Esslar and his brother Garaf. The Hall's library exceeded expectation, and Alditha became fast friends with the elf-brothers and the Hall's other resident at the time, Crawa. She currently rents a spacious home in the village of Undervale, though she spends the vast majority of her time at the Hall. Following the departure of the Hall's other residents on one adventure or another, she became the primary caretaker of the library. Most recently, she left the Hall in the care of the dwarf Pellinor Kettlehelm, and set out with her cousin Gunolf and his friend Edyth in search of Esslar, who has not been heard from in several months.

Appearance

Alditha is fairly short and very skinny, possessing little physical strength but a remarkable amount of energy. She is talkative and quick, eager to share whatever she has most recently learned or read. Her hair is often tied into a tight bun on the back of her head in an attempt to keep it in line, and she can often be seen wearing a pair of makeshift reading glasses crafted for her by Esslar.

Notes

  • Alditha is often accompanied by her pet turtle Lightning, who has a disturbing penchant for nibbling on shoes and clothing. She also has an eagle named Idhrenn, who carries messages between her and her companions abroad.
  • She is quite nearsighted, earning her the nickname "Squinty" from her cousin Gunolf.
