The People's Guild, A shelter in the storm
written by Edmind Ferny
Nathon Locksley, founder of Locksley Family Enterprises has been known by many as many different things. A farmer, a businessman, a father of many children, the names go on. The most popular of titles however, is a ruthless sellsword. Despite the barbaric sounding title, others still call him a good neighbor and a noble man. One thing is certain about this man. He has overcame many great obstacles, and built one of the most successful and wealthiest trading enterprises in Breeland, and most of Eriador for that matter. Now, the once poor farmer, Nathon Locksley has made preperations to give back to his fellow Breelanders who have helped him become the man he is today.
In the homestead of Redstable, Locksley Family Enterprises have finally finished constructing what Locksley has called, "The People's Guild". The guild is visioned by Locksley as a place where young men and women who have lost much of what they have ever owned or possessed, can have a second chance. As Locksley had explained it, the People's Guild can compare to a combination of a Refugee Shelter or Orhpange, as well as an Academy and Training Hall. Locksley hope to give admitance to any who wish to change the direction of their lives for the better. Men, women, and children, all are welcome to join the People's Guild and participate in it's agendas. The Enterprise will provide food, shelter, as well as training and tutolage to those who wish to seek it.
"I've had things rough, like many others in Breeland. I lost my house when the Blackwolds burn Archet to the ground, and here I was an old man without a home for his children, and no coin to put food in their mouths. I had worked hard to get to where I am today, and now, I want to give others the chance to build their lives into something strong so that when things get tough, and their walls fall down around them as mine did, they can acquire the constitution to repair their damages efficiently." - Nathon Locksley
Locksley appointed his brother-in-law, Bromleigh Sagewood, as the Guildmaster of the People's Guild. They are now admitting refugees and would-be apprentices into the Guild which now stand proudly on 1 High Road, in the Redstable Homestead of Breeland.
Crime and Justice, Hand in Hand?
written by Scouti Sparks
It has come to the attention of the people of Bree and the Bree Journal, that assistant to Chief Justice, Sigald of Dale, has been courting a figure of a dark past. We of course mean Celphynn of the ‘would-be’ criminal gang know as the Morchant. She seems to have an odd relationship to the urchin known around Bree as Wicket, and has even attacked and threatened some Watchers over her. But by far, her largest attack on the law was the allowance of Sikakrid of Dale to escape the gallows for the murder of his beloved step-father Icehook Goldenheart.
I sat down with the assistant Justice, Sigald in an undisclosed location outside of Bree. I asked him why in Middle Earth would a man of the law, a protector of the people would court such an unstable bender of the rules and laws. He replied, “Some times something can even sneak up on a master tracker” Ah so is it that we have found true love in the opposite sides of the law, or is this yet another scheme to harm the good law keepers of Bree in the worst way?
I attempted to speak with Celephynn on the matter, but her dislike of any order seems to have kept her from coming up with any ‘helpful’ words for us to print. We think only time will tell if it is love that has sneaked up on the good Sigald, or a shadowed figure with a dagger.
Talking Justice
written by Edmind Ferny
Not long ago was it that the elections for Bree Justice had been going on in Bree-Town. Now that one has been chosen, many wonder about the goals and mission the new Justice of Bree plans to achieve. I, Edmind Ferny, representative of the Breeland Journal, had the chance to hear of these goals firsthand from the new Justice himself.
A former citadel guard of the White City, Justice Arion of Gondor, works directly for the Mayor and serves as a Liaison between the Mayor and the Watchers. Justice Arion assists the Watch in ensuring they enforce Bree's laws in the manner Mayor Tenderlarch desires. However, the new Justice also holds enforcement authority of his own and can arrest lawbreakers.
"My personal goals are the same as all of the other law abiding citizens of Bree. To have a town free of crime. To have a town where it is safe to walk anywhere within its boundries and not fear assault. As for how this will be accomplished and what plans are in place, the Watch has recently undergone a changeover in personnel which should make them more efficient. The amount of crimes occuring in Bree has gone down. Most who commit crimes are caught and punished. Any who consider comitting crimes are thinking twice before engaging in such activity." - Justice Arion
Justice Arion is also assisted in his duties by Sigald of Dale. On occasion, Cynewynne of Dale has also been of great help to him.
Assault in Bree
written by Edmind Ferny
An outside source of the Breeland Journal had informed us that an assault has occured in Bree. We have not recieved details as to when it occured and by whom the assault was performed by. We only know that Wickit, a known street urchin who dwells near the Pony was attacked and rumors say she was seriously injured. Our people with the Journal are working very hard to confirm this rumor and more details will be revealed in our next issue.
